Bruce Rave is the renowned Capitol A&R exec Bruce Ravid. Following a DJ/Music Director stint as "David Ravid" in radio at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, he spent ten years at Capitol Records. In A&R, he was instrumental in the acquisition and development of such artists as The Knack ("My Sharona"), Iron Maiden, Duran Duran, Missing Persons, The Motels, Weird Al Yankovic, The Church, and Thomas Dolby ("She Blinded Me With Science"). Bruce also was the A&R guy for Kraftwerk, who were already on the label.
Rolling Stone called him an "A&R whiz," but Rave found that he couldn't do that job and continue to be a passionate music fan. He continued in career development as a headhunter, and founded the successful firm Ravid & Associates. That Rave blood again began to warm, so Bruce started writing his Rave's Raves tipsheet in 1998 to recognize deserving music that was missing the mainstream. In 2001, Bruce started accepting invitations to do occasional air shifts and 8-hour radio marathons. The "Go Deep" webcast premiered in March, 2006 and has attracted many fans as well as "rave" reviews. Bruce has been been well-ahead of national press and radio on such established artists as Muse(picked in 1999), Arcade Fire, The Killers, Matt & Kim, The Drums, and The Ting Tings among many others.
His passions lie in "breaking" new bands as well as in broadcasting. The "Go Deep" program is designed to expose listeners to the most compelling emerging music while giving those artists the chance to gain exposure. This has been developed into a concept for a nationally syndicated show. A free-form, all new music version of "Go Deep With Bruce Rave" can be heard on Moheak Radio Fridays from from 1-3p Pacific, 9-11p GMT. Bruce also hosts the Moheak Radio Music Meeting on Thursdays. It's a panel show with guests who rate and debate the most important new indie tracks. The MRMM airs 7-9p Pacific, 10-12a EDT, 3-5a GMT.
Bruce is a consultant to the music and entertainment industries. Projects include music supervision, providing creative input to up and coming artists, and handling business deveopment for growing companies.
